Queenstown Designer Spreads Fashion Wings Overseas

Queenstown-based designer Claire Brinsley’s first fashion range has been launched overseas by an exclusive UK boutique, only six months after its New Zealand debut.

Claire’s timeless, feminine claire bloom collection has been enthusiastically received by exclusive Welsh boutique Chiesa and suitably so – Claire, 40 hails from Wales.

Located in the fashionable Pontcanna district of Cardiff, Chiesa now showcases Claire’s classic, pretty lines on the same rails as Europe’s most stylish Italian-themed labels.

Claire’s range was introduced to Chiesa owner Maria Church, mother of famed Welsh singer Charlotte, by Claire’s brother Matthew, a marketer and business owner.

Claire’s first collection has made a lasting impression on New Zealand’s eclectic fashion mix since its Queenstown launch last October, with growing demand for her detailed and eye-catching feminine lines across New Zealand.

“I’m thrilled that the first claire bloom range has been so well received in my home country,” said Claire. “This is an exciting period of growth for me and a real confidence booster.

“I feel my clothing appeals to women who appreciate well cut garments and clothes that make them feel special. I have had fantastic feedback since launching last year and have learnt a lot in a relatively short period of time.”

Claire is fully aware of the highly competitive nature of the UK fashion industry but believes claire bloom designs have a point of difference and will find a niche in the market.

“I have always loved feminine styles that have an edge, a difference in terms of detailing or some particularly eye catching fabric. It’s this twist that I aim for in my designs and that I believe will appeal to the UK market. Discerning shoppers are always looking for something different from the mainstream.”
