Welcome Relief for New Kiwi Entrepreneurs
The Business Team Provides Welcome Relief for New Kiwi Entrepreneurs
26 March 2007, Auckland - The Business Team launches a new product - Be Your Own Boss - aimed at helping new immigrants successfully compete in the mainstream commercial arena.
Managing Director Kim Francis says more needs to be done to ensure the great quantity of international talent and experience in New Zealand is given the tools to succeed. Nation-wide debate about how to raise participation levels in the corporate world have focused on the difficulties faced by new kiwis in business, including set-up costs, communication, and general market familiarity. "In particular, communication seems to be one reason otherwise well-educated and experienced business people opt out of the mainstream marketplace."
"We've developed this package (Be Your Own Boss) to provide a sense of partnership for those motivated entrepreneurs who need advice and assistance with anything from copy writing to payroll management to get them started. Sometimes it's helpful just to know that being in business for yourself doesn't need to mean by yourself. And having all the components wrapped into one financial package can dramatically reduce the cost of starting your own business."
In a country where long-term settled migrants have become complacently happy with their way of life, the burden of getting started and "fitting in" is often left to the newer members of the community. Immigrant communities are indirectly encouraged to stick together, which does make it easier for them to get started. Unfortunately they run the risk of a slower integration into the mainstream business community.
Having professional guidance when setting up in the New Zealand environment and support in understanding legislation enables businesses to build a credible image. "The Business Team offers the complete package of everything you need to start your own business - there's far too much information to absorb when you're starting out, and not enough time in which to do it."
