PWB celebrates links with Awards finalists

Nearly half the companies named as finalists in the 2007 Wellington Region Gold Awards have worked with Positively Wellington Business (PWB) to grow their businesses.

The remarkable list of companies is headed by StarNow.com and Project X Technology from Creative HQ, our business incubator for high-growth start-up companies.

In all, 18 of the 39 finalists have worked with PWB to access grants, hire skilled migrants, partner with investors, work in a business cluster or use another of PWB’s services.

Sectors that PWB puts specific emphasis on are especially well represented.

All Cyber Gold finalists have connections with PWB, while all but one of the finalists in the Creative Gold, Discovering Gold and Emerging Gold categories have ties.

PWB chief executive Philip Lewin says he is impressed and enthused by the finalists’ achievements.

“As in previous years, the Gold Awards give us the chance to formally recognise the depth of business talent in the region,” says Mr Lewin.

“It is both PWB’s work and passion to get behind the hard-working businesses around us, and we get great satisfaction from seeing those we have assisted stepping up to accept their rewards.”
