Hospitality Queen Marks 25 Year Milestone

Close to 200 people marked the silver milestone with Louise Kiely on Sunday evening when she celebrated 25 years of business as Queenstown’s glamorous hospitality queen.

They came from as far away as Aspen for the glamorous occasion where champagne flowed, music played and the glitterati danced from 6pm until nearly 6am at Queenstown House, the boutique hotel opened by Kiely 25 years ago.

The landmark anniversary was celebrated by Kiely’s friends, family and former and current guests all wearing at least a hint of silver to mark the occasion.

Among the guests were local heroes including actor Sam Neill and bungy founder Henry van Asch, visiting VIP’s including former Olympic skier Stu Blakely, designer Virginia Fisher, businessman Stephen Fisher, Air New Zealand pilots Paul Kiely and Guy McWilliam, Hotelier Chris Black with wife Jennifer, former Queenstown Mayor David Bradford with wife Wendy and Topp Twin Lynda Topp.

Music from Richard Stringer band was interspersed with guest appearances by several musicians among the crowd including singer Katrina Kallil, fiddler Dave Fountain and pianist extraordinaire Mark Wilson. Bringing the house down, was an item from Louise Kiely herself along with daughter Aimee Ongley.

A steady stream of delectable dishes throughout the evening was provided by Billy Lusk of Billionaire Catering – described by Kiely as ‘caterer to the stars’.

For the foreseeable future, Kiely expects to continue hosting guests in her inimitable style at Queenstown House and certainly all guests are looking forward to her next great bash!
