Top Gear NZ Covered in Glory
We’re just as pleased as punch that Top Gear NZ won Cover of the Year in the Special Interest category at the Magazine Publishers’ Association Awards on Friday night.
Top Gear NZ went from six to 12 issues a year in September 2006, and we announced the move with a stunning red cover that featured the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. How stunning, you ask? Stunning enough to scoop a first place at the 2007 mag awards last week.
The judges were bowled over, describing it as “a cover with unmistakable, formidable confidence. Great colour play of rich reds and out-of-focus greys and greens gives this cover an instant rush that the viewer gets to be part of.” And then some, maties!
Special props go out to our creative director Mary Davy and designer Helene Dehmer. We’re also endlessly grateful to the BBC team back in Ol’ Blighty for their inspiration and output.
Co-Publisher Julian Andrews says; “Top Gear NZ is now monthly, and it’s here to stay. We’re looking forward to making further changes to the design of the title over the coming months, and I strongly believe that this is only the first of many magazine accolades to come.”
