Cortex 7.0 provisions Exchange 2007, SharePoint 3

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cortex 7.0 to provision Exchange 2007 and SharePoint Services 3.0

7-May-07, Auckland – EMS-Cortex, an IT company with over 10 years experience in servicing telecommunications and service providers, today announced its latest release, Cortex Release 7.0.

Cortex Release 7.0

V7 of Cortex is now available for new installations. Release 7.0 is a major upgrade which features a number of improvements as well as support for Microsoft Exchange 2007 and SharePoint Services v3.0.

Exchange 2007

Cortex now supports Exchange 2003, Exchange 2007 and mixed mode Exchange 2003/2007 environments. “Much of the development work in Cortex v7 has focused on easing the migration to Exchange 2007. We believed this to be the biggest challenge for service providers wanting to upgrade to the latest version of Exchange.” says Colin Williams, Development Manager of EMSCortex.

Users can be upgraded and moved across to 2007 with a few clicks. “We are also working on a migration tool which will make it even easier to move entire customers’ organisations to Exchange 2007."

SharePoint Services v3

Cortex v7 has introduced support for the latest version of Sharepoint – Sharepoint 2007. There is also a number of enhancements, especially in a way that Sharepoint sites are provisioned. Cortex 7.0 will no longer create virtual servers for SharePoint. The system will instead retrieve a list of available virtual servers from the SharePoint server; this is then specified in the SharePoint package and all sites provisioned will be created on this site. This simplifies the provisioning process and allows the service provider to configure key SharePoint settings through SharePoint itself.

High Performance

The Cortex provisioning engine now allows multiple requests to be processed concurrently; provisioning is now delivered at high speed, even when the system is under load. It also allows for load balancing and redundancy in high volume mission-critical environments.

Reporting Enhancements

In Cortex v7, a number of enhancements have been made to the reporting system to make it easy to manage and to deliver reports to end users. The new report interface is tightly integrated with the reporting server. Available reports are now retrieved from the report server easing upgrades and allowing service providers to easily publish their own reports through Cortex.

A number of new reports have been added for Billing and Exchange reporting. “The new reports were developed with input from a number of our customers in order to alleviate some of the current billing issues, and further streamline the process of service delivery.” says Colin Williams.
