Survey Shows Mums Need More Help Beyond Mother’s Day
A survey carried out by Hubbards has found that what mums really want is more help around the house beyond Mother’s Day.
The ‘Hubbards Irresistible Mothers Day Survey’ asked more than 100 mothers from the nation’s five major cities a range of questions about Mother’s Day.
Hubbards marketing manager, Julia Van de Coolwijk, said the results showed that 50 percent of those surveyed wanted their families to help them out more often during the year.
“The main ways families can help is by doing more housework, tidying up after themselves and generally helping out around the house,” she said.
“Beyond this, the research also showed that Mother’s Day itself is considered important amongst the nation’s mums, with more than 85 percent of them celebrating the special celebration.
“The most conventional ways include family meals together, a special breakfast or small gifts.”
But before planning that special meal or hitting the shops in search of that perfect pair of slippers there could be a cheaper option to consider.
“When asked what the ultimate thing their kids could do for them on Mother’s Day, more than 25 percent of mothers surveyed said one of the best things their kids could do is simply behave.
“Just four percent of mothers said that giving a present was the ultimate thing their kids could do for them.
“Mothers also wanted to spend more time with their children, if living away from home have them visit, cook a meal, and generally help out with the housework.”
