Camper lands in New Zealand
Europe’s hottest shoe brand, Camper, has opened its first New Zealand concept store in Newmarket, Auckland.
The store officially opens on Tuesday 8 May, with a star-studded fiesta that celebrates the magic of Camper and its Spanish origins.
Camper’s founder Lorenzo Fluxà explains: “We are so excited about arriving in New Zealand because the philosophy behind our shoes and the quality of their raw, edgy, urban design represents a great fit with the Kiwi way of life.”
“We believe Newmarket is a particularly good location for our cool and upmarket Camper store where we can be right amongst a plethora of other local and international brands.”
The Newmarket store format has been developed around Camper’s “Walk in progress” concept which showcases unique stores that are provisional, interactive and finished with original furnishings made from recycled materials. In this way, Camper stores can be opened before their definitive design has been completed.
The brand was born in 1975 but its origins date back 130 years and can be traced back to Antonio Fluxà who established the first advanced shoe factory on the Spanish island of Majorca in 1877. Since then, Camper has forged new homes in the world’s edgiest fashion postcodes including Barcelona, Milan, New York, London and Paris.
Camper means peasant. Originating in the Mediterranean with a focus on the integration of cultures and diversity, the brand is not about a specific shoe but rather a style, a philosophy, a way of thinking and making shoes, a way of walking.
The store will stock a wide range of footwear, all lovingly designed with elements of experimentation, originality and discovery that define the spirit of the brand.
Walk this way and discover the new Camper store at: 240 Broadway, Newmarket, Auckland, New Zealand.
