MMF Member is appointed on board of PPNZ

NZ Music Manager member, Lorraine Barry (Dave Dobbyn, The Electric Confectionaires, Lucid 3) was recently appointed on the board of the PPNZ. Phonographic Performances NZ Ltd (PPNZ) is a non-profit organisation administering the rights of local and international record labels, producers and recording artists within the New Zealand territory.

PPNZ is responsible for licensing and collecting income from the broadcasting and public performance of sound and video recordings. PPNZ can grant licences to any individual or business playing or using recorded music in the public arena.

Established in 1957, PPNZ represents over 960 member labels and collects and distributes royalties to over 600 local recording artists and producers.

The invitation for a MMF member was extended by Adam Holt, Chairperson of PPNZ and MD of Universal NZ, as the PPNZ board wanted someone to represent all artist and manager needs and to bring artist queries to the board.

The Music Managers’ Forum NZ (MMF) is a national, not-for-profit organisation formed in 2003 for music managers, self-managed artists and anyone simply with an interest in the music industry or wanting to become a music manager. With over 80 members the MMF ultimately seeks to improve managers’ capacity to support the careers of the artists they represent. Bands represented by members of the MMF include Scribe, Dave Dobbyn, The Datsuns, Holly Smith, Goldenhorse, Blindspott, Shapeshifter, Ladi 6, 48 May, SDJ,D Dub, Lucid 3, Carly Binding, Elemeno P, Miriam Clancy, The Dukes, The Have, Odessa, The Electric Confectionaires.
