New restaurant reflects Queenstown ‘Elements’

Media Release from Novotel Gardens Queenstown

New restaurant reflects Queenstown ‘Elements’

A significant expansion of Novotel Gardens restaurant started today that will see it enlarged to take up to 200 diners at any one time.

A full refurbishment and re-design of the popular lakefront hotel restaurant will see it take on a new look interior décor and be re-named ‘Elements’ to reflect Queenstown’s changing seasons.

Work on the restaurant refurbishment is scheduled to be completed by late October as part of an $11.5 million hotel renovation.

When the hotel renovation is completed by January 2008, Novotel Gardens Queenstown will officially become the largest hotel in the resort town.

Novotel Gardens Food and Beverage Manager Kirk Dyson said he was thrilled with the development, and said he’d been pushing for a name change for the hotel restaurant for three years.

“The new name ‘Elements’reflects the hotel’s lakefront position and is totally suited to Queenstown,” said Dyson.

“One section of the restaurant will have an ‘earth’ feel with a cosy fire, water feature and local stonework. We are also aiming to have a ‘seasonal’ element with interchangeable drapes for each season, and matching décor and lighting.

“Novotel also hopes to create a ‘gallery style’ concept with commissioned art work, sculptures and an ‘arty’ feel.”

Included in the expansion of the Novotel Gardens Queenstown’s Earl and Horne wings is a refurbishment of the bar after the restaurant is completed – this is the second upgrade of these areas since Accor bought the hotel in 2003.

“A new bar has been designed with French doors opening onto our beautiful rose gardens, enabling free flowing and easy access for hotel guests and the public,” said Dyson.

The staged $11.5 million development, which started in October 2006, will see 70 rooms added to the property by January 2008.

When the project is completed, the hotel will have 274 rooms catering for up to 548 guests, a 34% increase in potential guest numbers.

Novotel Gardens Queenstown is in full operation throughout the development phase with impact on guests kept to a minimum.
