New company geared to
Japanese Logistics needs
An increasing demand for New Zealand and Australian products has helped to drive the setting up of a new niche company to assist with the efficient delivery of freight for Japanese consumers.
JSP Logistics Ltd (formerly Japan Speed Pack NZ Ltd) will be launched on 1 June 2007. An associate company of the New Zealand based S B Global Logistics, this niche entity has expanded its network recently opening an office in Tokyo. It has established offices in Brisbane and Christchurch, which have offered export freight services to Japanese customers since 1990. Employing Japanese staff has been a key point of difference as it enables a direct focus and understanding of the needs of the customers.
Koichi Watanabe, Managing Director, will oversee the company's Japanese activities from its base in Tokyo. A full range of Logistics service products will be offered, including JSP Japan Speed Pack, which provides a door-to-door delivery service of souvenirs and gifts that Japanese tourists buy during visits to New Zealand.
Stephen Bateman, a Director of JSP Logistics, said: "We have worked with exporters to design and create safe packaging for a range of goods that are being moved to ensure these goods arrive in pristine condition. There's been a significant increase in the popularity of New Zealand and Australian wines and we have a specialised product in JSP Wine Logistics that delivers real value for the customers. Whether it is a small bottle or case of wine to a sea freight container, we can handle right to the customer's door."
Another major aspect of the new business is identifying importers and exporters who are aiming to supply or buy from markets in New Zealand and Australia. They will be encouraged to move goods through JSP Logistics, which will take care of all warehousing, transport, tracking of goods and Customs requirements.
The company has a combined wealth of knowledge and experience dealing with Japanese visitors, who have traditionally been using their door-to-door service for the delivery of their New Zealand and Australian purchases, such as rugby jerseys, health-based skincare products, honey and merino clothing.
Mr Bateman said that there was growing competition in the sector and the company had identified a way to broaden the services it could offer for both commercial clients and tourists.
"Having our own Japanese experts on the ground in NZ and Australia has given us a spring board to launch our business and increased our capability to offer a more diversified range of product services to our customers.
"Our Japanese employees
understand the service expectations of the customers they
are dealing with and are focusing only on that
market."
Other JSP products include mail order, air and sea freight forwarding and contract warehouse and distribution.
