Mercury Investigating Electricity Disconnection
Wednesday 30 May 2007
Mercury Energy is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Mangere resident in her home following electricity disconnection by Mercury Energy.
James Moulder, General Manager, said the company restored electricity to the household early this morning to help the family through this difficult time.
“We are distressed by this tragic event and have offered our condolences to the family, he says. “We are doing everything we can to understand the full circumstances of what occurred.”
Mercury Energy has policies in place to prevent disconnection in cases where the company is made aware of medical need.
The company hopes to have a fuller picture of the facts by this afternoon.
