BK Girls Live on, Online

Fans will have the chance to write the next chapter in the controversial lives of the BK girls.

An online forum where people can offer Burger King advice on the contents of the girls’ next television ad is one feature of the new www.bkmansion.co.nz website launched earlier today.

The site offers fans behind the scenes footage and personal photo galleries, as well as all the girls' ads. Burger King Marketing Manager Megan Denize says the forum allows the public to say what they really think about the ads – positive or otherwise.

“This website is a great way for people to engage with Burger King and let us know if they love or hate the BK girls,” says Ms Denize.

“Those who don’t like the ads are welcome to express their views. But those who love the ads can enjoy them online, make the most of the site’s extra features and offer suggestions for the next step in the girls’ fun, light-hearted campaign.”

Despite receiving pre approval from the Television Commercial Approvals Bureau before launch, the ads have now been banned by the Advertising Standards Complaints Board – a decision Burger King intends to appeal.

“We have been fielding a steady stream of consumer emails protesting about the decision to ban the ads. We maintain that the ads are humorous rather than gratuitous, and the volume of response so far suggests the public agrees with us,” says Ms Denize.

“In the meantime, we encourage fans of the BK girls to visit them at www.bkmansion.co.nz.”
