Refurbishment of Novotel Gardens Half Completed

The
$11.5 million refurbishment of Novotel Gardens Queenstown
has progressed halfway through its staged development, with
public areas now under construction.
Seventy-five completely refurbished or brand new rooms in the Church Wing are open for business. The Church Wing is completely distanced from noise or intrusion caused by construction in other parts of the hotel.
To further mitigate disturbance, the reception area has been relocated to an alternative part of the lobby.
“We are still operating throughout the development, and doing our best to ensure that impact on guests is kept to a minimum,” said Novotel Gardens General Manager Carl Braddock. “We’re delighted with the progress to date.”
Starting last week, a re-design of the Novotel Gardens restaurant will see it enlarged to take up to 200 diners at any one time.
The popular lakefront hotel restaurant will take on a new name ‘Elements’ to reflect Queenstown’s changing seasons, and is scheduled to be completed by late October.
The restaurant has been separated into two parts to minimise the noise and visual effects of building, with extra guests catered for in a new dining area in ‘Revive Bar’.
Further enhanced with heavy curtains, low lighting and a gas fire to create a warm and stylish ‘club’ style atmosphere, ‘Revive’ will become the meeting and greeting venue for the majority of groups.
These re-designs will contribute to a cosy and intimate feel at Novotel Gardens this winter season, complemented by the hotel’s hallmark great food.
The hotel renovation, which started in October 2006, will be completed by January 2008 when Novotel Gardens Queenstown will officially become the largest hotel in the resort town with 70 new rooms added.
When the project is completed, the hotel will have 274 rooms catering for up to 548 guests, a 34% increase in potential guest numbers.
