Lamb Marketing Plan Approved
Lamb Marketing Plan Approved
The announcement by PPCS that
it will team up with its rivals to
market lamb into the
US and Canada has met with approval from the
Meat
Industry Reform Group.
PPCS announced yesterday that New
Zealand Lamb Companies have
regrouped to market lamb and
mutton. The consortium consists of
Alliance Group, PPCS
and ANZCO (Canterbury Meat Packers).
MIRG Chairman John
Gregan said his South-Canterbury based group was
heartened to read PPCS' statement yesterday.
"Any
co-operation in the marketplace between New Zealand meat
companies has got to be a positive direction for New
Zealand meat farmers."
He said there is no doubt that
competition amongst New Zealand meat
companies is the
major factor in the situation we now find ourselves
in.
"It would be great to see the extension of such
agreements into
Europe our major lamb
market."
