Buddle Findlay a finalist in the 2007 National Business Review Sponsorship for the Arts Awards

Buddle Findlay's 10 year sponsorship of the Buddle Findlay Sargeson Fellowship for New Zealand writers has earned the firm acknowledgement as a finalist in the 2007 NBR Awards for Sponsorship of the Arts.

As part of its submission, the firm produced a video entitled "This Magical Solitude", featuring interviews with current and past winners of the Fellowship including James George, Emily Perkins, Charlotte Grimshaw, Tina Shaw, Kevin Ireland, as well as Trust chair Christine Cole-Catley.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary Buddle Findlay this year increased the stipend paid to Fellows to $40,000 which is in addition to the residency at the Sargeson Writers Centre in Princes Street, Auckland.

"We believe a strong literary and artistic life is essential for building a strong society and we very much enjoy contributing to that," said Michael Dineen, Auckland Chairman of Buddle Findlay in the award submission.

The winners of the National Business Review Awards for Sponsorship of the Arts will be announced by Prime Minister Helen Clark at a black tie awards gala dinner at the Auckland Town Hall on Wednesday, September 12, 2007.
