Roderick Deane accepts appointment to Pacific Road Advisory Board

Professional director and respected business leader Dr Roderick Deane has accepted an appointment to Pacific Road Corporate Finance’s (Australasian) Advisory Board, the Company’s chairman, Paul Espie, announced today.

Dr. Deane will join the Board’s two existing members, Jeremy Ellis and London based Oliver Stocken, to provide corporate governance and strategic advice to the business.

“Roderick brings unique experience having being heavily involved in the Australian and New Zealand business environment for many years. He is a highly regarded, business leader. His extensive background in trans-Tasman economic and business matters will be of great benefit to Pacific Road.”

Pacific Road Corporate Finance is an independent provider of specialist corporate financial advisory services with offices in Auckland and Sydney.

Over the last six months, the Company has acted on several of trans-Tasman transactions including the acquisition of Hirequip Limited, New Zealand's largest hire company, by Nikko Principal Investments (Australia) Pty Limited in December 2006. The Company advised on the recent acquisition of Home Ideas Australia by Home Ideas New Zealand alongside private equity company, AMP Pencarrow Limited and advised Botanical Food Holdings Limited on the sale of Taura Food Ingredients to CHAMP Ventures.

The firm is currently advising on the sale of Robt..Stone Holdings Limited, New Zealand’s leading mechanical services company In Australia over the same period, Pacific Road advised the Myer Family on its participation in the acquisition of the Myer Emporium from Coles Myer by Texas Pacific Group/Newbridge Capital and also APA Group (formerly APT) on the acquisition of the Murraylink and Directlink transmission assets, the Queensland Government on the Aurukun bauxite project and on power station developments in NSW and Western Australia. The firm is currently advising SP AusNet in relation to the Singapore Power/Babcock & Brown acquisition of Alinta Limited.

Dr. Deane is currently Chairman of Fletcher Building and a Director of Woolworths Limited. He is a former Chairman of Telecom Corporation Limited, ANZ National Bank Limited and the State Services Commission. He has been Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as well as Chief Executive of the Electricity Corporation of New Zealand. He was previously Director of Trans Alta Corporation (Canada) Ltd.

Jeremy Ellis (Melbourne) Mr Ellis holds a number of directorships and external appointments in Australia. He is a Director of ANZ Banking Group Limited, Chairman of Pacifica Group Limited, Black Range Minerals and a new body resulting from the amalgamation of the Australian Golfing Union (AGU) and the Ladies Golfing Union (LGU). Mr Ellis is the Chancellor of Monash University and a Consultant to the Monash Energy Advisory Board. Previous positions include Chairman of The BHP Company Limited and Chairman of Sandvik Australia Pty Ltd.
