New Farm Services Manager Appointed

Meat & Wool New Zealand Genetics Manager,
Richard Wakelin, has been appointed as the organisation’s
new Manager of Farm Services. He replaces James Smallwood
who has returned to the Wairarapa to pursue his own farming
interests.
Richard Wakelin, who grew up in Hawke’s Bay, started out life as a wool classer for Dalgety NZ Ltd in Napier.
He has had almost 30 years experience in the agriculture industry working in Napier, Auckland, Te Kuiti, Christchurch, Wanganui and Porirua for Dalgety, Dalgety Crown Ltd, Wrightson Dalgety and subsequently for Wrightson Ltd.
In his new role as Farm Services Manager he will be responsible for Meat & Wool New Zealand’s Regional and Genetics teams and the range of on-farm extension activities they undertake, including data collection for the annual Meat & Wool New Zealand Economic Survey.
Mr Wakelin says his focus for the future will be to provide leadership and strategies to increase value and reduce costs for levy payers.
