Celebrating La Vie Francais in Queenstown NZ

Media Release from Sofitel Queenstown Hotel and Spa

Celebrating La Vie Français

With a name like Vie (French for 'life'), the five-star Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa restaurant could hardly ignore Bastille Day.

Vie restaurant Executive Chef Darren Clements has dug deep into his repertoire of all culinary things French and devised a delectable Vie Bastille Day special menu for July 14.

With a suitably Gallic influence, appetisers include rabbit rillette with cornichons and fig compote, or salmon terrine with saffron potato and sauce gribiche.

Mains include daube of boeuf with bleu cheese pudding and winter vegetables, or confit duck leg and roasted breast with truffled mash and orange jus.

For those with any space left for dessert, Chef Clements has gone down the tried and tested route with a choice of a classic crème brulee with valrhona chocolate sorbet, or poached pear tarte tatin with vanilla bean ice cream and port syrup.

"It's a delight to be able to bring some French influence to bear on the Vie menu," said Chef Clements.

"I'm relishing the opportunity to celebrate our French heritage and return to my culinary roots for inspiration, to create a celebratory dining experience."

Every Bastille Day dinner guest will be treated to a glass of delicious Moet et Chandon champagne. Dinner is priced at $70 per person.

The accolades have been rolling in for Sofitel Queenstown's Vie restaurant, recently listed among the best dining experiences in the Accor Awards for Excellence. Sofitel Queenstown Hotel and Spa was named last year among the top 20 hotels in the world by prestigious Australian travel magazine Gourmet Traveller.
