Swanndri and Speight’s Create New Check
The secret’s out – Swanndri and Speight’s have unveiled the check they have designed especially for the five-man crew about to deliver a fully-functioning Speight’s Ale House from Dunedin to London as part of the Great Speight’s Beer Delivery.
Swanndri Chief Executive Julian Bowden says “The concept was so creative we decided to get on board and outfit the crew in something new. Working together, we’ve designed a new check in the distinctive Speight’s gold and navy and incorporated it in the kit for each crew member.
“The guys are going to sail through all sorts of weather during their 70 days at sea, so we’ve given them shorts, tee-shirts and short-sleeved shirts for the warm days, as well as woollen bush-shirts, thermals, wool-lined oilskins, waterproof pants and Muckboots. The Speight’s check is used in the Ranger shirt and Crusher hat, as well as lining the Foxton vest.
“ It looks undeniably Kiwi, which is what the whole adventure is – who else but a Kiwi would think of shipping a pub to ex-pats on the other side of the world? ”
The crew and replica pub set sail from Dunedin on the 25th of July.
Gear is available online www.swanndri.co.nz and in Swanndri stores.

Background
Swanndri is the oldest apparel brand in New Zealand and the new company continues to harness that heritage in future product development and marketing.
The Swanndri brand and range of clothing dates back to 1913 when it was first developed by Taranaki tailor William Broome. The shirt was given the name Swanndri because of the way the water ran off its back.
