Advancing Radiology Market, New GM
COMRAD Medical Systems Capitalises on Advancing Radiology Market and Appoints New General Manager
Press release,
COMRAD Medical Systems, Christchurch, New Zealand,
23-July-07: COMRAD Medical Systems is forecasting
significant growth over the next two years in response to a
‘dynamic’ trend in the radiology industry, and has
appointed Jeff Wilkinson as GM to manage the expansion of
the company and business growth.
Under increasing pressure for faster, more flexible access to patient data and images, the radiology industry is changing its business models to implement more efficient and affordable technology. Delays in managing older film-based systems are potentially compromising patient care and risking unnecessary added costs.
COMRAD Medical Systems’ Radiology Information System (RIS) is installed in the majority of private radiology practices in New Zealand and is also the preferred RIS for many NZ DHB radiology departments. Installation numbers of the COMRAD 2 RIS are also growing in Australia.
Founder Andrew Scott says, “The combination of modern digital systems and fast internet access is opening up opportunities in the health sector by enabling flexible work processes and more efficient services. There’s greater awareness of how computerised management systems can be used to improve the bottom line in public and private clinical practice, and so enable management to allocate funds where they should be allocated – towards patient care.”
In response to the growing industry demand for faster, accurate and more flexible access to patient reports and images, COMRAD Medical Systems has recently interfaced its COMRAD 2 RIS software with the leading Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS) and Voice Recognition Systems (VRS) by Cedara and Powerscribe.
The company has also recently launched its own WebCOMRAD product which provides authorised internet access to patient radiology information by referring clinicians.
“Our commitment to the private radiology industry and District Health Boards in Australasia places us in an enviable position to take advantage of this growing trend. To help us manage this opportunity and take the company to the next level we have appointed Jeff Wilkinson as General Manager. This is a new position at COMRAD,” says Mr Scott.
Jeff Wilkinson says, “We expect to position the company for significant growth over the next two years by streamlining radiology workflow and enabling radiologists the flexibility to share resources, report remotely, and process patient information more efficiently online.”
Prior to joining COMRAD, Jeff managed the start-up and growth of the Compaq Application Development Centre or ADC (originally Digital Equipment Corporation) and has held a range of management and consulting roles in the software industry.
His achievements include doubling the revenue growth at the ADC in Christchurch, which he attributes to a business model he implemented that focused on developing quality applications using client server and internet solutions that worked from day one, and were delivered on time, to budget and to specification.
With a PhD in mathematics and diploma in teaching Jeff changed career in 2004 to teach at Lincoln High School. He returned to the business world when he joined COMRAD in April this year.
