Gen-i and Norfolk sign new agreement
Gen-i and Norfolk sign new telecommunications agreement
for Australasia
Auckland, 24 July 2007 – Norfolk Group Limited, a leading Australasian provider of integrated electrical, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) and property services, has signed a three year agreement with Gen-i Australasia for the supply of telecommunications and technology services. The agreement, valued at approximately NZ $4.4 million, includes the provision of all fixed voice and data services to 110 Norfolk sites across Australia.
The agreement builds on the existing relationship between Norfolk and Gen-i for the provision of Norfolk’s entire managed communications in New Zealand and will provide Norfolk with a seamless trans-Tasman network, an ongoing management capability and a single point of contact for both countries. Norfolk also anticipates further benefits such as decreased costs and the agility of Gen-i to deliver a telecommunications platform to meet future business requirements.
David Gregson, Chief Information Officer of Norfolk, said Gen-i was chosen because of its demonstrable ability to meet Norfolk’s current and future business objectives.
“Telecommunications is the enabling technology that underpins our centralised IT environment,” Mr Gregson said. “Gen-i demonstrated a clear understanding of how we operate and the importance of telecommunications within our business.
“We were impressed with the breadth and depth of Gen-i’s capability in the provision of converged technology and telecommunications services. Gen-i has a proven consulting, build and design team which will provide us with a seamless, integrated solution for our data and fixed voice services across Australasia.”
The transition to the new Gen-i services will take place immediately.
Prior to selecting Gen-i, Norfolk engaged a team of industry experts to assess the company’s current and future requirements. A competitive tender process then evaluated a number of telecommunications providers on criteria such as communications coverage, partnering capability, costs and future technology roadmaps.
Rhoda Holmes, General Manager for Gen-i Australasia, said the agreement provides significant benefits to Norfolk through the creation of a single network platform across the Tasman.
“Gen-i already has a proven track record with Norfolk New Zealand, and we are thrilled to extend our services to provide fixed voice and data services to Norfolk Australia,” said Ms Holmes. “Our approach and commitment to meeting Norfolk’s requirements is based on our ability to build successful business partnerships and achieve the best outcome for our customers.”
“Norfolk will benefit from Gen-i’s expertise across a full range of converged ICT solutions, and we look forward to working to together to deliver an exciting future,” she added.
Ms Holmes says this agreement is the latest in a series of new business wins for Gen-i across Australasia, with a recent IDC survey showing that Gen-i is holding firmly onto its place as the leading ICT services company in New Zealand, with pole positions in both mind and marketshare.
“Gen-i continues to demonstrate its capabilities in the provision of ICT services and this latest contract win puts us in great shape for continued growth,” she concluded.
