New Zealand Woman’s Weekly grows circulation; Creme has huge jump

The New Zealand Woman’s Weekly has cemented its position as one of New Zealand’s most popular weekly titles with a total circulation of 98,738 copies sold weekly in the first six months of this year.

The 75-year old title had circulation growth of 1.48 percent from January-June, making it the most successful performer in the woman’s weekly category in this audit period, according to latest the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) figures.

Its main rival Woman's Day suffered a circulation decline of 5.3 percent in the first six months of this year, with an overall decline of 10.42 percent in the 12 months to June.

The real standout of the half-year circulation results was the teen title Creme which boosted sales by an impressive 19.9 percent in the January-June period. This backed up very strong June-December growth in 2006, earning the title 22.4 percent growth over the 12 months to June.

New Zealand Magazines other title, The NZ Listener, dominated the current affairs category with audited weekly sales of 69,302 – an increase of 0.8 percent in the first six months to June.

Strong circulation results across all of our categories has been cause for celebration here at New Zealand Magazines, says circulation and marketing manager Chris Gwin. “Our teams here work really hard to deliver quality content and to see such strong growth for each title shows us we’re really hitting the mark with what readers want from our magazines.”
