Ford Commends Gull On New Zealand's First E10 Fuel
Ford New Zealand today
congratulated Gull on the 'first pour' of E10 (10 percent
ethanol 90 percent petrol) fuel in New Zealand.
Dubbed Force 10, the E10 fuel filled the tank of one of Ford's premium FPV products, which is ironically named Force 8. Ford New Zealand's Managing Director Richard Matheson was on hand for the historic event and said:
"We congratulate Gull on its innovation and industry leadership at becoming the first company to bring E10 fuel to the New Zealand market. Bio fuels have the potential to reduce New Zealand's dependence on imported crude oil and will increase the use of a renewable and sustainable energy source"
"Last year, Ford became the first New Zealand automotive company to evaluate Flexi-Fuel Vehicles (FFV). The two FFV Focus cars are capable of running on a fuel blend known as E85 (85% bio-fuel and 15% petrol), petrol only, or a mix of both. Gull kindly manufactured the E85 fuel last year for the FFVs, and we commend it on once again demonstrating its commitment to bio-fuels in New Zealand," concluded Matheson.
Almost all of Ford New Zealand's current petrol range including the award-winning Territory and the perennial favourite, the BF Falcon, are compatible with E10 fuel.
Many of Ford's older vehicles are also capable of running on E10 - Ford owners should refer to Ford's website for further information www.ford.co.nz.
