Fairfax Media Leads The Pack

Fairfax Media Leads The Pack To Support V8 Supercars

The 2008 Hamilton V8 Supercar Streetrace will enjoy significant coverage and promotion, both regionally and nationally, thanks to the support of Fairfax Media, the event’s new official Print Media Partner.

Fairfax Media publications - including the Waikato Times, Sunday Star Times and Sunday News – will provide extensive news coverage, expert analysis and chances to win fantastic prizes as Hamilton hosts New Zealand’s biggest annual sporting event in April 2008.

Waikato Times Editor Bryce Johns says he welcomes the opportunity to showcase such a prestigious and significant event to New Zealand on behalf the Waikato region. “Bringing the New Zealand round of the V8 Supercar Championship to the streets of Hamilton is the biggest news event in the Waikato in recent memory. The Times’ coverage has so far been extensive and we are determined to continue leading the pack,” he says.

Dean Calvert, Managing Director of event promoter Caleta Streetrace Management, is delighted at Fairfax’s involvement as Print Media Partner, and is looking forward to an effective and productive relationship in the months ahead.

“This partnership is the first of its kind for V8 Supercars on either side of the Tasman. Fairfax Media is clearly taking up the challenge of providing motorsport fans with all the information and the latest news on the V8 Supercar Championship, as well as encouraging sports fans and families to attend and support the streetrace. Fairfax’s support will be invaluable as we move to bring this huge event to Hamilton.”

Fairfax Media Group Sales and Marketing Manager, Sandra King, believes the partnership offers exciting opportunities for everyone involved.

“Together the Sunday News and Sunday Star Times bring New Zealanders extensive sports coverage in newspapers every weekend. At a local level the Waikato Times can show their own support for the region by showcasing an event that Hamilton has worked hard to win the rights to host. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to support such an important event.”

Editorial, feature and promotional content on the Hamilton V8 Supercar Streetrace will feature in the Waikato Times, Sunday Star Times and Sunday News between now and April 2008.
