New Zealand Fire Service awards advertising account to M&C Saatchi

Wellington 13 August 2007 – The New Zealand Fire Service has selected M&C Saatchi Wellington as its new advertising agency partner. M&C Saatchi won the account in a competitive pitch which had gone out to open tender.

Corporate Communications Manager, Scott Sargentina said, “The pitch process is never an easy one particularly when it involves people the Fire Service has had a long association with. However, M&C Saatchi impressed us with their simplicity and innovative thinking. The strategies presented were fresh, original and precisely what we were looking for to support our key strategic goals.”

M&C Saatchi CEO Nick Baylis said of the win, “We are extremely proud to be working with the NZ Fire Service. It is without doubt one of New Zealand’s most trusted and iconic brands, but one that has a very serious message to convey to all New Zealanders and we don’t take that responsibility lightly. Being selected is an indication of the capability our team possess in the social marketing space. As the New Zealand Fire Service’s agency partner, we want to drive behaviour change to demonstrably reduce the incidence and consequence of fire and ensure those most at risk fully understand the devastating consequences of it.

The Fire Service role is to work with communities to protect what they value and we see our role as providing the ongoing awareness of that aim.”
