Bunce to hot foot it at Manukau’s business event

Westpac Manukau Business Excellence Awards

13 August 2007

Frank Bunce to hot foot it at Manukau’s business event of the year

When winners in the 14th Westpac Manukau Business Excellence Awards are announced on the evening of Friday 24 August, it’s not only the city’s top businesses that we will be watching.

Former All-Black and Manukau resident Frank Bunce will also be performing the ball room dancing manoeuvres he fine-tuned during the TV show Dancing with the Stars, with his dance partner, Krystal Stuart.

Event spokeperson Gaelle Deighton says it is fitting that the former All Black should feature because he is instilled with the same spirit of uncompromised excellence that many of the evening’s winners have displayed.

“This year’s awards are the most competitive in the event’s 14 years,” she explains. “We have a number of categories that are very closely contested. These businesses are displaying the highest levels of excellence.”

Frank Bunce, who retired from play in 1997, was one of the most competitive players in international rugby in his five year All Black career.

Over 30 finalists from a strong field of entries in the Westpac Manukau Business Excellence Awards were named earlier in the month.

The evening of entertainment also includes a brass band, a rendition of the National Anthem, and a special address by both Mayor Sir Barry Curtis and Prime Minister Helen Clark.

“It is a very special evening, one that many people look forward to,” says Deighton.
