Rockburn Wins Gold at the Bragato Wine Awards
Rockburn Wins Gold at the Bragato Wine Awards
The 2006 Rockburn Pinot Noir has earned a gold medal at the Bragato Wine Awards held in Auckland the 23 – 25 August 2007.
The Bragato Wine Awards give recognition to viticultural excellence and recognize that “good wines are grown in the vineyard.” They are held in honour of Romeo Bragato, a viticulture pioneer whose work between 1895 and 1912 set the foundations for New Zealand’s wine industry as it stands today.
The gold medal is a first for winemaker Malcolm
Francis. He joined Rockburn at their new McNulty Road
winery in Cromwell for the 2006 vintage, having spent four
vintages as assistant winemaker at Felton Road.
Rockburn Wines has a history of winning gold medals,
particularly for its Pinot Noir, at such shows as the Air
New Zealand Awards, the New Zealand International Wine Show
and the New Zealand Royal Easter Show.
Rockburn Wines has two vineyards in Central Otago, one in Gibbston Valley and the other at Lowburn. While renowned for its award winning Pinot Noir, Rockburn also produces Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
