Chemcolour buys Clariant Australian TLP Division
Specialty chemical and raw materials supplier Chemcolour Industries (NZ) Ltd has purchased the Australian textile, leather and paper division of its part-owner, Swiss chemical company Clariant International Ltd.
Chemcolour will become Clariant’s exclusive Australian distributor of products to the textile, leather and paper industries through its subsidiary, Chemcolour Industries Australia Pty Ltd.
Announcing the purchase today, Chemcolour managing director Murray Nancekivell said the purchase of Clariant’s Sydney manufacturing site and TLP business fitted perfectly into Chemcolour’s strategy.
“We plan to optimise manufacturing to become a leading supplier of raw materials and specialty chemical products across a wide range of industries,” he said.
Clariant Australia TLP Division employs 35 staff at a manufacturing operation in Sydney, with marketing offices and applications development laboratories in Melbourne. All staff will be offered positions with the new company.
The Sydney plant is a leading producer of wax-based products for the paper and plasterboard industries, specialty chemicals for the leather and textile industries and chemicals for the construction industry in Australia and selected export markets.
