Laptops with Military Technology from Iraq Conflict Offer New Sunlight Readable Colour Screens to Australian Businesses

Avantec, the exclusive Australian distributor of military grade mobile computing solutions from General Dynamics , has today announced the Australian availability of a new generation of semi-rugged notebook computers equipped with advanced new touch screens that are viewable in direct sunlight.

The General Dynamix GoBook VR-2 is a semi-rugged notebook computer featuring the Intel® Core™2 Duo processor. Designed to meet the demands of business, government agencies, and the military, the GoBook VR-2 offers a unique 13.3-inch touch screen display featuring DynaVue™. DynaVue is a patent pending display technology that makes it possible to readily view a colour LCD screen in direct sunlight.

Deployed by the US military in the harsh desert conditions of Iraq, GoBook laptops are perfectly suited for people that work outside, or need a vehicle mounted computer solution. GoBook VR-2 Product Features

The GoBook VR-2 is equipped with the latest Intel® 2.0 GHz T7300 Core™2 Duo processor, an 800 MHz FSB, 4MB L2 cache, up to 4GB memory and the Intel GM965 Express Chip set. The unit weighs 2.8kg.

The semi-rugged notebook offers a comprehensive range of optional inbuilt wireless technologies, including global positioning system (GPS), 802.11 a/g/n, 3G mobile phone and EVDO, and Bluetooth. The antennas are fully integrated into the rugged case, ensuring reliability.
The GoBook VR-2 supports both an optional office docking station, as well as an optional theft resistant vehicle docking solution.

The combination of GPS and mobile phone technologies, and a simple vehicle docking system, allows employees to easily take their office with them - wherever they work in Australia.

The GoBook VR-2 incorporates multiple levels of both physical and software security, including a TPM 1.2 secure micro-controller with cryptographic functionality. A stealth mode allows safe operation in critical military and law enforcement situations. An optional biometric fingerprint reader simplifies access to secure information.
