Wellington Motors for Samsung (Korea), others

20th September 2007

Wellington Motors for Samsung Plant (Korea), plus other orders

Wellington Drive Technologies Ltd. (Wellington) is pleased to announce that an order has been received from our agents in Korea, ICT Engineering Company Ltd., for a substantial number of Wellington motors for clean room fan filter units. The equipment is used to deliver purified and filtered air for precision industrial processes that require extremely low levels of airborne contamination. This is Wellington’s first major order from Korea.

Clean room fan filter units are used in semiconductor fabrication plants, biotech and biochemical installations, hospitals and other sophisticated facilities worldwide. The motors in these units usually run 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and, consequently, electricity-saving performance is demanded. Clean room fan filter installations often require several thousand units, and some require much larger numbers. In aggregate, many hundreds of thousands motors are needed worldwide every year. The market is believed to be growing rapidly, particularly in Asia where many high technology facilities that require fan filter units are now located.

The clean room fan filter unit market is thus an important one for Wellington, where our motors’ attributes of electricity-saving performance, low noise and service reliability are important advantages. Because of the high demanded performance, and the larger motor ratings, unit prices are more generous than in some other markets addressed by our Company, with motors (together with related controls) priced at several hundred dollars each.

Covered by the order are motors, fans, special purpose electronic controls and related software. Wellington’s largest standard motor, rated at 350W (half a horsepower) has been selected for this project and deliveries will be completed by December 2007. The motors are being deployed in an advanced materials fabrication facility being constructed in Korea by Samsung.

The order is of significant value to Wellington, although reasons of commercial confidentiality mean that further details cannot be disclosed.

Further orders for equipment of this nature for Korea are expected over the next twelve months. Smaller quantities of similar equipment have already been supplied for use in North America, and our customer there has indicated that their requirements are expected to grow substantially over the next 12 months.

In addition to this important first order from Korea, we recently received our first production orders for motors and fans for heat recovery ventilation systems from Enervent (Finland) (www.enervent.fi), as part of an anticipated long-term supply relationship. Enervent is being supplied with products from our range of premium products, including electronics and specialized constant-flow control software. This is our first major order from Finland.

Our existing customer, Sanyo Commercial Refrigeration Company (Japan) recently placed an order for 6,000 of our “ECR” commercial refrigeration motors.
