100% Puts The Heat On The
Appliance Market
Major electrical appliance retailer 100% is getting ready to spark up the New Zealand market, with a nationwide revamp of its stores.
Appliance Connexion – the co-operative which owns 100% stores nationwide – is transforming the brand and image and has expansion firmly on its mind.
“We’re already New Zealand’s largest independent electrical buying group and have the biggest buying power of any independent retailer in the sector. This enables us to offer exceptional deals to our customers,” says Appliance Connexion chief executive Wayne Burton.
“Now, we’re really going to put some heat into the appliance market to ensure 100% is the stand-out brand in customers’ minds.”
Burton said that, while the appliance sector was crowded, several of the other players in the market had minimal brand distinction.
“We see a tremendous opportunity for 100% to further establish itself as Kiwis’ favourite nationwide appliance group, with the collective buying muscle to offer customers quality products at competitive prices.
“Our name reflects our attitude towards quality, value and customer service – we give 100% every time. Our image reflects New Zealand’s no-nonsense, practical approach to life and our nation’s vast appetite for sophisticated technology.”
The revamp of the franchise group’s 60 member stores is already underway, with pilot stores 100% TJ Appliance Group in Taupo and 100% Gary Pye’s in Waiuku (south of Auckland) already carrying the new look logo and corporate colours.
A further 10 stores – representing a third of the group’s annual turnover – will be completed by the end of November with a national advertising campaign starting this week (8 October, 2007).
All of the group’s 100% stores located throughout the country will be transformed within the next twelve months.
“Our evolution reflects the ongoing technological advances being made in the appliances we sell. It’s a market that is growing quickly and changing rapidly and we’re well positioned to make the most of that.” said Burton.
“Our goal is to be the industry’s only group of Independent Retailers in New Zealand and we anticipate adding a further 20 stores to the fold within the next few years, which will broaden our distribution nationwide and further strengthen our buying power.”
The 100% group was formed in 1994 and now includes stores throughout New Zealand, from Kerikeri in the north to Invercargill in the south. Each 100% outlet is owner-operated and comes under the corporate banner of Appliance Connexion, New Zealand’s largest independent electrical buying group.
