The Art of Getting ‘Streetsmart’

Media Release 16 October 2007

The Art of Getting ‘Streetsmart’

Ten years ago acclaimed author, Chris Helder, was teaching underprivileged kids in a Los Angelesghetto how to read, write and communicate.

Famous for his best-selling book Stop Selling! The art of reading the client and winning the business, he has graduated from his classroom past to train staff at major banks and elite corporations around the world.

Originally from the US, Australian-based Helder has developed his art of ‘Streetsmart’ communication from many of his life experiences.

Speaking about his experience in LA Chris says the children he was teaching lived in some pretty rough circumstances. “It was very difficult to get teachers to work in the schools but I was up for the challenge.

“After two years working as a volunteer I not only had some incredibly rewarding experiences – but on a personal level - I had really started to learn the ‘art of communication.’”

From this experience Chris developed his winning concept of change that he uses when speaking to leading business organisations. The concept is “ACT AS IF”.

“It’s about wanting a fundamental change in your life and beginning to act it out. It has made a huge difference in so many people’s lives,” he says.

Chris Helder now works as a speaker, trainer, writer, consultant and business strategist and has spoken around the world to more than 25,000 people. Chris has worked with companies in the US, Australia, New Zealandand Europe.
