Forester Luxury Arrives
Subaru has launched a luxury version of its Forester X model.

With full leather upholstery, 16 inch alloy wheels, tinted rear windows, sunroof, rear spoiler and a two shade body colour, the Forester Luxury will sell for $36,990 for the five speed manual gearbox version, which has dual range selection and a hill holder. The four speed automatic is an extra $1000.

“This is great value for money,” said Chris Rickards, the General Manager of Subaru of New Zealand. “Forester has a great package of active and passive safety features across the range and our trade mark symmetrical All Wheel Drive transmission.”

Like every new Subaru, Forester has the maximum five star ANCAP occupant safety rating as a result of crash testing by the Australasian New Car Assessment Programme. There are dual front and dual front side air bags, ABS brakes with EBD, active front head restraints, three point seat belts for all seats, anti-intrusion beams in the doors and the front seat belts have pre-tensioners and load limiters.

There is no fear of flattening the battery with the automatic headlights off when the ignition is switched off. Air conditioning, a CD sound system, cruise control, variable intermittent wipers, power steering, electric windows and mirrors and a split folding rear seat are all standard.

The remote control central locking includes an engine immobilizer. There is data dot security and a three year unlimited kilometers warranty.

The Forester comes with a 2.5-litre, fuel injected 4-cylinder “boxer” engine producing 121 kWs and 226 Nm of torque.

With a 1400 kg tow rating and 200 mm of ground clearance it can be used for a variety of recreational activities, making light work of rough tracks to get to that favourite fishing or tramping spot.

It is equally at home in an urban environment, ferrying kids or swallowing the weekly grocery shopping in its large load area.
