Aucklanders Want a Wrinkle-Free Christmas

Media Release for immediate use 28 November 2007

Aucklanders Want a Wrinkle-Free Christmas

The run-up to Christmas can be hectic and stressful, but it seems more Aucklanders are making sure it doesn't show on their face.

Two enterprising Auckland spa owners are flying a Christchurch cosmetic medicine doctor north for weekend clinics to meet client demand for Botox and filler injections.

Dr Kaye Buchan is a doctor who combines a busy general practice with a growing appearance medicine practice in Christchurch and travelling to regular clinics in Auckland and Dunedin as well as considering an offer to expand her practice to Sydney.

Dr Buchan has been injecting Botox and fillers for more than six years now and says clients trust her medical approach and credibility to remove the worry lines from their faces.

"I can take one look at someone's face and know what they will want work on, as well as what I can do about it," she says.

"It is important to me for patients to feel their best about themselves and if that means they choose to have frown-lines or crow's feet removed, that's what I'll do.

"Some people choose to rejuvenate their face with injected fillers, some colour their hair, others get artificial nails. To me, all those decisions are choices people make about their bodies no-one should apologise for choosing to look their best."

Dr Buchan has been travelling to Auckland for regular weekend clinics for more than three years now, but demand has increased as clients' wrinkles have decreased.

"Men and women come to me for all sorts of reasons", she says. "Most people say their older-looking faces don't reflect how young they feel. I'm happy to help them turn back time.

"Some have the treatment when they have an important function coming up, maybe a wedding or family celebration, others have a new relationship or a chance at a big promotion. Some just get tired of looking tired."

Dr Buchan crams a lot into her busy weeks through her determination to always make room for patients. "I love my work because I love the results, so anyone who asks for treatment will get it. I get a thrill from seeing how people's self-esteem lifts when their wrinkles do."

Dr Kaye Buchan has regular Saturday clinics at 'Relax and Revive' in St Helier's and from December will also be regularly working at 'Servilles Spa' in the Viaduct.
