First class hospitality professional joins Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa

The five-star Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa continues to attract first class staff with the addition of hospitality professional Raj Uppada as new Restaurant and Bar Manager.

With several years of industry experience, Raj most recently oversaw the smooth running of the brasserie restaurant at the fashionable Hilton on Parklane Hotel in London. Before that, Raj developed his sea legs as Food Manager on the Royal Caribbean International ‘Serenade of the Seas’ cruise liner.

Passionate about food and travel, Raj said joining the prestigious Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa was the ideal step for him, professionally and personally.

“It’s been my ambition to be part of the fast growing Sofitel Luxury Hotels group, so to join Sofitel Queenstown, an amazing hotel in a beautiful location, is a dream come true,” he said.

As the new manager of Sofitel Queenstown’s signature restaurant, ‘Vie’, Raj said he was committed to continuing its first class service and distinctive style.

Sofitel General Manager, Mark Wilkinson said he was delighted to have someone of Raj’s calibre on staff.

“He has excellent industry experience as well as an impressive lineup of qualifications. He’ll be a wonderful addition to the top team of professionals we already have here,” he said.

The hotel’s new star manager has a Masters in Business Administration, specializing in Hospitality and Tourism from the London School of E-Commerce and has completed courses in hotel management, catering technology, wines and spirits, hospitality sales and marketing, and front office procedures.
