Cityport Answers Demand

Demand for commercial units near the arterial routes from Lyttelton to the city have resulted in a new office development called Cityport being built in Opawa Road.

Stage One of five units has been designed by Richard Proko Limited and is under construction by Armitage Williams. The units will be completed by next May.

Marketing agent Craig Edwards of Simes says the units are a response to the growth in the south-eastern area of Christchurch.

“There’s lots of business being done in that part of town,” he says, “and businesses are keen to take advantage of the links from the port to the city. Opawa Road connects with Port Hills Road and links the port with Christchurch’s business districts, so these units are perfectly situated.

“They have a high profile and are designed to be offset so every one has prominence, visibility and natural light. They are being built to a very high standard and would make stylish professional offices, with contemporary two-storey design and plenty of parking.”

The five units at 201-203 Opawa Road range in size from 101m² to 259m², with rental ranging from $27,640 to $71,550 per annum, plus GST and Opex.
