Tourism software specialist expands into Christchurch

National tourism technology leader, IBIS Technology, this month opens its Christchurch office run by newly appointed software developer Matt Evrard.

Matt joined the IBIS team of eight (who are based in Queenstown) last week and will work across both the Queenstown and Christchurch offices.

IBIS Technology managing director, Erik Bradshaw, said he was delighted to grow the development side of his team and that establishing a presence in Christchurch was an exciting milestone.

“When the right people come along at the right time, we seize the opportunity to deliver better business solutions to clients and expand our operation. It’s also important to continually enhance our software. Matt’s extensive development expertise makes him the ideal person to drive our software upgrade.

“Matt has a refreshing big picture approach and a can-do attitude that fits well with our results focused yet relaxed company culture,” said Bradshaw.

Christchurch-born Matt said he knew IBIS was a company he wanted to work for when he first met Erik Bradshaw and company general manager, Christine Ryan, two years ago on an expedition to Antarctica.

“I knew IBIS Technology was a growing and well-respected business, but spending two months on board a boat in Antarctica with Erik and Christine gave me invaluable insight into how they work and think,” said Evrard.

“We kept in touch and I was very pleased to get Erik’s call telling me that a new development role at IBIS had been created. I’m relishing the challenge and looking forward to getting to know my customers.”

Matt has amassed over fifteen years experience in the technology field, including data analysis in the oil industry and systems administration at The Christchurch Press and Timaru Herald.

IBIS Technology has doubled its annual turnover and number of staff in the past year, as well as significantly expanding its client base to include more of the national i-SITE tourism information centres. Over 70% of the computerised systems used by i-SITEs around New Zealand are supplied by IBIS.

Other new clients include Abel Tasman Aqua Taxis, Kayak Abel Tasman, AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand, Actionflite, Rangitata Rafts and Onsen Hot Pools.

IBIS Technology has provided end-to-end software solutions for New Zealand’s tourism industry for the past 13 years.

The company makes the secure and reliable transfer of over $10 million worth of electronic client transactions a year, between booking agencies and tourism operators.
