Mobile advertising has arrived
In a New Zealand first, Vodafone New Zealand is changing the way information reaches consumers, launching mobile advertising on the Vodafone live! portal.
This new media channel will sit alongside print and broadcast advertising, mail catalogues and online advertising, enabling brands to reach customers in a more targeted and immediate way.
Vodafone’s General Manager of Products and Services, Kursten Shalfoon said that mobile advertising was challenging traditional media, creating an innovative way for brands to reach their audience.
“The model for mobile advertising is all about targeting customers on a very individual and personal basis. It’s similar to online advertising in that companies can target marketing campaigns based on which sites consumers access,” he said.
“However, the click through rate for mobile advertising is between 3% and 7%, which is well above that for web advertising which sits at just 1%.
“Mobile advertising is all about the individual. Marketing can be better targeted, customers can receive the information they want without having to wade through advertisements that don’t interest them.“
Vodafone has signed an exclusive agreement with Snakk Media to sell mobile advertising space on the Vodafone live! portal.
Snakk Media, a sister brand to The Hyperfactory, is a global mobile media sales agency network that specialises in packaging and representing mobile media advertising opportunities.
“There are more mobiles than PCs worldwide and locally some 10 million page impressions are made on the Vodafone live! portal every month.” Shalfoon said.
“Vodafone live! already targets a wide-reaching audience, and is becoming a richer tool in terms of content offerings. Customers can watch TV with Sky Mobile TV, watch You Tube and access Wikipedia and advertising on these pages will further enhance the value of reaching a selected audience,”
