Insurance specifically for Subaru

Media Information March 19, 2008

Insurance specifically for Subaru

Subaru of New Zealand has tailored car insurance specifically for the owners of Subarus which are bought new in New Zealand.

The policies are only available from authorised Subaru dealers on brand new Subarus or those second hand cars which were first bought new in New Zealand.

With the launch of Subaru Insurance, owners of New Zealand-new Subarus could find getting quality insurance much easier.

In the past some Insurance companies have discriminated against New Zealand-new Subaru owners because of the perception that all Subarus are specifically targeted by thieves. But criminals have generally targeted second hand import Subarus.

Since 2003, every New Zealand-new Subaru has been fitted with DataDot security along with advanced engine immobiliser technology and, in the case of turbocharged vehicles, alarm systems.

A recent Australian study revealed that when these security measures were introduced in Australia, that un-recovered theft rates dropped by a massive 92%. Furthermore, the age, wealth and income profile of New Zealand-new Subaru owners is such that they represent a better risk to insurers than used-import owners. Generally they are more mature with better driving experience and take better care of their vehicles.

All this has led Subaru of New Zealand to launch Subaru Insurance, a comprehensive range of motor vehicle insurance policies for New Zealand-new Subarus.

In developing Subaru Insurance the key goal was to improve the combination of benefits available, ensure getting cover is easy and offer competitive premiums and excess levels.

Some of the many benefits that Subaru Comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance include:
 Three years ‘new-for-old’ – if you insure your new Subaru continuously with Subaru Insurance from brand-new, in the event of a write-off situation, Subaru Insurance will replace your car with the equivalent brand new model.
 Genuine parts – in the event of a claim Subaru Insurance will use Genuine Subaru parts to repair your car to its original specification.
 AA Roadservice Cover – New Zealand-wide assistance for every roadside breakdown situation; for example, a flat battery or tyre, or if you’ve locked your keys in your car or run out of petrol.

Subaru Comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance is administered by PROTECTA Insurance New Zealand Limited and underwritten by Allianz, one of the world’s largest general insurance companies with an A-Strong Financial Security rating from Standard & Poors (Australia) Pty on 8th November 2006.

For those who own a New Zealand-new Subaru and think perhaps the existing insurer isn’t providing the best possible insurance cover for the vehicle, a moment taken to call the local Subaru Authorised Dealer and ask about Subaru Insurance can provide a no obligation quote over the phone in less than five minutes.
