American wine expert explores Pinot Noir

MEDIA RELEASE 23rd April 2008

Blue sees Red in New Zealand
American wine expert explores Pinot Noir during Savour New Zealand

A leading American wine expert will literally see, breath and drink red (wine) when he travels to Auckland next month to explore one of our biggest wine successes.

Anthony Dias Blue is co-hosting sessions dedicated to Pinot Noir with Kiwi Martin Tillard, vineyard manager at Camshorn in Waipara, during Savour New Zealand at the Langham Auckland from 2nd – 4th May.

Their joint sessions, aptly named Seeing Red, will explore the diverse and interesting ways in which Pinot Noir presents itself not only in New Zealand, but around the world.

Anthony Dias Blue may not be a household name in New Zealand but he is extremely well regarded in the wine world. Based out of LA, Dias Blue is, among other titles, the executive director of the San Francisco International Wine Competition.

He was also a wine consultant with Singapore Airlines for 16 years before refocusing his attention on writing. His articles are now circulated to more than 50 million people each month.

Dias Blue is also the owner and editor-in-chief of Patterson’s The Tasting Panel Magazine and a frequent contributor to Decanter, Robb Report, Celebrated Living, Virtuoso Life, and C Magazine. His work is not confined to print with his award–winning food and wine critiques, The Blue Lifestyle Minute, broadcast daily on KFWB in Los Angeles and WCBS radio in New York.

He also has a weekly live show The Happy Hour in Los Angeles on KLSX and is a former wine and spirits editor of Bon Appétit, Dias Blue’s passion for wine runs deep with his father a firm wine fan. Dias Blue’s own passion began to flourish at the tender age of 11 when he visited Burgundy with his dad. It was during this trip that Dias Blue became truly enamoured with Pinot Noir – a love affair which continues today.

His professional career started as wine editor for Diversion Magazine in 1976 before an ongoing stream of opportunities lead him to become one of America’s most influential wine personalities.

Another incredible achievement is the fact Dias Blue has achieved so much in the prestigious wine world without any formal qualifications.
