Comvita Limited Appoints New Independent Director
Comvita Limited Chairman Neil Craig today announced the appointment of Mr Maurice Prendergast as an independent, non-executive director to Comvita’s board, effective May 2008.
Mr Prendergast has been the Managing Director of Pumpkin Patch since 1993.
“Pumpkin Patch’s business model with respect to global distribution is similar to Comvita’s and we can learn a lot from Maurice’s hands-on experience,” says Mr Craig. “Maurice is well-respected in New Zealand’s business and investment community and will be an invaluable addition to our board. He is also a substantial shareholder in Comvita.”
Before his current role with Pumpkin Patch, Mr Prendergast held executive positions in accounting, distribution and property development in both New Zealand and Australia.
Subject to Mr Prendergast’s election at the Company’s AGM in July, Comvita Limited will run an expanded board of seven until 2009 when non-executive director Bill Bracks intends to retire.
