Unpack, unwind and unleash!

If you’re after a week of relaxation combined with action then the much anticipated Norfolk Island Open Field Archery Championships is the perfect mix for you.

Target July 7 to 12 to be part of the Association of Norfolk Island Archers’ festivities celebrating not only the club’s 6th Open Field Championships but also its 11th anniversary.

The action-packed week includes a welcome fish fry function with fresh local fish, four mornings of relaxed and friendly 3D archery, a brewery takeover and a presentation banquet.

You’ll never find a better bunch of merry men – and women – than the local archers who welcome newcomers with open arms.

Founded in 1997, the Association of Norfolk Island Archers is run by a small band of keen archers who take deep pride in the aims of their small close-knit, fun-loving and target-happy band.

The Open Field Archery Championships has a very friendly and relaxed vibe with the official rules of the event reflecting a rounded approach to the sport.

Rule One; Have Fun! Rule Two; Tell Jokes. Rule 19; Heckling is Encouraged. However, not all the rules are as carefree and spectators and archers alike are asked to respect the efforts of competitors.

For those whose aim may be less precise, Norfolk Island provides a multitude of alternative activities and sports making it a great destination for a week’s R&R.

About Norfolk Island: Discovered by Captain Cook in 1774, Norfolk Island was first settled as a British penal colony in 1788 through to 1856. On June 8, 1856, the island was re-inhabited by a community from Pitcairn Island, descendants of the Bounty mutineers and their Tahitian companions. Known today as Norfolk Islanders, they form a majority of the 1,800 resident population. Norfolk Island is renowned for its spectacular coastal scenery, colourful history, sporting and cultural activities, convict heritage and low tax shopping.

Air New Zealand flies to Norfolk Island on Sundays and Wednesdays.
