Freeman Media launches Energy News

http://www.energynews.co.nz

Wellington-based business publisher, Freeman Media, has launched an online news and information service for the New Zealand energy sector, Energy News.

Publisher, Matt Freeman, says the energy sector is long overdue for an independent news service. “Energy News is very much pitched at the industry, government and medium to large users of energy in New Zealand,” says Freeman. “Our research showed that people involved in the energy sector were having to collate their information from many sources. We plan to offer that at one address.”

The new publication’s editorial scope will include the upstream generation, exploration and production of energy across the electricity, oil, gas and coal sectors, and the corresponding nationwide distribution and resale.

Freeman says the website will include daily real time news written by the team at Freeman Media, columns from sector experts, opinion pieces, features, blogs and forums. “All the content you would expect from a full-featured online news service,” says Freeman. The site currently offers a resource database listing all energy assets in New Zealand with data such as generation capacity, ownership and technical specifications. Upcoming additions to the site include a real time data section for metrics such as lake levels, oil prices and spot prices, plus an energy sector organisation database.

Freeman will edit the publication with journalist Matt Ritchie, and well known energy journalist Neil Ritchie freelancing.
