Companies Register Hits 500,000

Companies Register Hits 500,000

A Wellington company that champions sustainable decommissioning of IT equipment is the 500,000th company to be registered on the Companies Office register.

Tim Findlay of QK NZ Limited, who is also a director of Wellington firm Remark-IT, received a commemorative certificate of incorporation presented by Justin Hygate, Group Manger Business Registries.

“QK NZ Limited is dedicated to reducing the impact of e-waste on the environment. Our objective is to divert 98% of IT waste from landfills” says Findlay.

This milestone coincides with the Companies Office announcement that from 1 July it will become mandatory for companies to complete the majority of their company administration online.

“This is a significant date in the development of the Companies Office that will positively impact on our clients,” said Hygate “It is the result of the creation of a world leading business registry service that enables clients to file efficiently, at a lower cost of compliance.”

“Over 99% of new companies are incorporated online, and 98% of annual returns are filed using our online services” quotes Hygate. “These figures indicate that the majority of New Zealand businesses are already experiencing the benefits of electronic filing.”
