DB’s Brian Blake to accelerate Excelerator: New Zealand Leadership Institute

DB Breweries’ Managing Director Brian Blake has been appointed Chair of the Board of Excelerator (the New Zealand Leadership Institute), which was founded in 2004 by the University of Auckland Business School alongside a number of corporate and philanthropic partners.

As an active and enthusiastic Board member since 2005, Brian has also been closely involved in Excelerator’s Hillary Leadership Programme which supports and stimulates senior executives’ leadership abilities in businesses throughout New Zealand.

The appointment recognises Brian’s successful leadership of one of New Zealand’s best-loved companies and his professional and personal commitment to the development of talented and skilled leaders within New Zealand’s organisations.

“Brian understands how effective leadership contributes to New Zealand’s growth and prosperity through his role with DB and his work to date on the Excelerator Board,” says Lester Levy, Chief Executive of Excelerator and Adjunct Professor of Leadership at The University of Auckland Business School.

“Brian offers years of experience and is a proven leader. We couldn’t ask for a better leader to drive our long-term strategy to increase leadership capacity and effectiveness within New Zealand.

“I am sure he will guide Excelerator as he has guided DB Breweries through the 1990s and into the 21st century – extremely successfully.”

The appointment is made with immediate effect and the Board acknowledges the significant contribution made by outgoing Chair, June McCabe.
