TV Ad Revenue remains strong for June quarter

MEDIA RELEASE 29 July 2008

Television Advertising Revenue remains strong for June quarter

Television advertising revenue remained strong at $164.4 million for the quarter ended 30 June 2008, compared to $158.6 million for the same period in 2007.

The NZTBC’s Chief Executive, Justine Wilkinson, said, “These are outstanding results given the current economic climate” and “reinforces the importance that advertisers place on using television when times are tough”.

Ms Wilkinson said that the spending trend for television advertising was likely to remain strong for the remainder of 2008 and that this was largely due to a strong programme line-up, including the Olympic Games from Beijing on TV One and local favourite Outrageous Fortune on TV3.

The reported figures are sourced from returns prepared by Television New Zealand (TV ONE and TV2), TV Works (TV3 and C4) and Sky Network Television (including Prime).
