Maclean Computing Acquires ATL Systems

News Release, 29 July 2008

Maclean Computing Acquires ATL Systems

Leading IT solutions provider Maclean Computing is pleased to announce that it is acquiring IT solutions business ATL Systems Limited.

ATL Systems has offices in both Auckland and Wellington and was established in Auckland in 1988. Today’s acquisition secures Maclean Computing’s position as a leading supplier of IT solutions to mid-sized businesses.

Maclean will formerly assume ownership of the business as at 1 August 2008. The purchase price has not been disclosed.

ATL Systems provides a broad portfolio of business solutions including infrastructure management, consulting and customer support. ATL Systems’ key reseller brands include EMC, IBM, Toshiba, HP, Dell, VM Ware, Microsoft and Cisco.

Maclean Computing Managing Director Allan Maclean says the acquisition forms part of its long term strategy. “ATL Systems is a natural fit for our business and this acquisition is therefore aligned with our controlled growth strategy. On the back of a strong year for Maclean Computing this acquisition is an important opportunity for us. Today’s purchase of ATL Systems strengthens our position as a leading IT & Telephony solution provider for Auckland’s mid-market, and provides an excellent opportunity to offer the same level of professionalism and support enjoyed by our Auckland customers in Wellington.”

Synergies will be realised from the merger of operations of both companies. “We look to combining the strengths of both our telephony and IT specialist skills, providing a service that provides a superior service to our customers,” Mr Maclean says.

Mr Maclean said the purchase of ATL Systems will also help facilitate its vision to establish a more significant presence in Wellington. “Some of our Auckland based customers have significant presence in Wellington, and have asked us to join them. Today’s acquisition addresses that.”

ATL Systems managing director Mike Milne says after 20 years since its incorporation, the sale is timely. “After building ATL Systems to the company it is today, I am now able to step back and look at the company we have built. I am immensely proud of our staff who have created the company it is today. It is now ready to go to the next level and I believe Maclean can help that process.”

“Our customers and staff are in good hands with Maclean Computing and I look forward to following the company’s progress over the coming years.”

Mr Maclean says both Maclean and ATL Systems are customer-focused businesses with their customer base relying on family values such as integrity, honestly and application.

“That culture is also ingrained in ATL Systems so we look forward to the merger of the two companies being a seamless process.”
