August Results Boost One News To 10 Months Of Growth
ONE News at 6pm has recorded its 10th consecutive month of year-on-year growth.
In August, the average nightly audience for TVNZ's flagship ONE News hit 691,500 – nearly double that of 3 News' average audience of 371,400 (AP 5+) during the same period.
Compared with August last year, ONE News' audience grew by 96,200 people.
In TV ONE's target demographic of all people 25-54 there was a significant share shift further widening the gap in favour of ONE News, which averaged 41% compared with 3 News' share of 32%.
This is the highest share result for ONE News in over two years, and while ONE News has been improving its performance for some time the Olympic Games were clearly a contributing factor.
ONE News also won the Auckland Urban demographic for the second consecutive month, after wresting it back in July following TV3 dominance since April 2005.
