Design Symposium attracts top speakers

Design Symposium attracts top speakers

Swedish Style New Zealand kicks off on Monday 20th October 2008 with a full day symposium on design presented by leading Swedish experts.

The symposium entitled “Design: the value connection” is being held in conjunction with Better by Design, the group within New Zealand Trade and Enterprise dedicated to improving New Zealand business performance through design. AUT will host the event on their campus.

The symposium focuses on creating value through design and will feature a number of experts from Sweden as well as local speaker Brian Richards.

Swedish experts include Anders Breitholtz an internationally recognised industrial designer, whose company is currently working with 120 others to bring new and innovative ideas to the world market.

Bjorn Rietz is now a freelance designer after establishing his own ad agency in Stockholm and subsequently becoming Creative Director of DDB Melbourne until 2005.

Brian Richards is the CEO of BRR Limited. Recognised as the country's foremost brand strategist, he has developed highly effective strategies for many leading export brands, regional identities, and major corporates throughout Australasia, Asia and Europe.

Swedish Style New Zealand will be held for the first time in Auckland between October 18 – 25, 2008. During this week events will feature exhibitions of Swedish design, music, gastronomy and symposia on a range of sustainability issues. These will take place in a number of central locations in Auckland, and follow the very successful Swedish Style events held in Melbourne and Sydney in 2005, organised by the Swedish Embassy in Canberra.
